So I should be getting ready to go to my in-laws 33rd wedding anniversary party....But I'm so sick I cant get my butt up to get moving!! I think well just make an appearance and head home-I feel like crap! I cant keep anything down! YUCKY!!! Little Matt is so amazed by me vomiting..it's gross!! He stays at the bathroom door and yells "I wanna see mom" while my sweet Ethan is saying "momma..OK?" I hate this and wish it would just go away! OK I guess I should get my booty moving now!

My kids got me sick!
My kids have been sick for almost a week and now they passed it on down to me!! Thanks!! They missed their last week of summer school because they were sick and now I am!!
I have been dealing with the choices I have chosen for my kids. First I wanted them to have access to ASL and then we started going to the Oral school and Ethan's language just kept progressing. He's now 3 and has great language skills- However Kiley who is 10 months, her language isn't age appropriate and I know that sounds silly but children at this age should understand "NO" and be able to babble mama and dada. Kiley was doing so great until she got all that fluid backed up in her ears and had to have the tubes put in. I thought I would see a big improvement after the surgery but that hasn't been the case. I have been implementing ASL to all 3 of the kids and they seem to get it! Kiley does the sign for mama and I love it!!! I know she will be able to speak later on but right now I am worried about right now!!
I have had this back and forth tug of war type of fight in my head. I am doing the right thing for my children by having them in a Oral school which doesn't use ASL?? This is a ongoing battle in my head.. There are times when I feel like I am robbing them of something they are entitled to -ASL is so much easier to teach and learn for these children who have limited access to sound-- I have spent 10 months teaching Kiley how to say Mamamama and daddada and in a few weeks she was able to sign it and I am pretty sure she understands the meaning of it. I point to pictures say, mama and do the sign with her. I am going to continue this but I also want to stay at the Oral school - I think of it like this ---- there are children who use Spanish at home but in the classroom the teachers speak English----I have been reading post after post and researching everything I read one article that said that children who use C/I get at least 70% of whats going on in a typical classroom...well, my children have hearing in the severe range and wear hearing aids...My guess would be that they get 30% if they are in preferred seating and utilizing an FM system... That's CRAP!! I am going to school for speech pathology but I think I may switch up and do Deaf Ed. Everyone has their own way that they think is right---do I choose oralisim or ASL I cant take a side because one shoe size doesn't always fit and the side I am choosing is the one that I think best fits our particular situation. Give them both!!
